Sports Massage

Qualification: Level 3 certificate in Sports massage (QCF)

The Level 3 certificate in Sports massage (QCF) is a specialist qualification. During this course you will gain knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning the practice of sports massage therapy, including functional anatomy and physiology, nutrition, classification of sports injuries and the stages of healing. It will also provide you with the understanding, skills and techniques to plan, prepare for and apply a range of sports massage methods to uninjured clients. You will also develop skills to evaluate massage strategies and methods to inform on future practice.

Course content:

• Functional Anatomy, Physiology & nutrition
• Assessing your clients
• Devising sports massage strategies for clients
• Contra-indications / Contra-actions / Homecare / Aftercare
• Application of sports massage techniques to suit your clients
• Evaluate sports massage methods
• Case Studies / Tasks / Written paper for each unit / Portfolio

Entry Requirements: Level 3 certificate in Swedish massage or equivalent

Further Training/Progression: Level 3 Diploma in the Prevention and Management of Sports Injuries, Level 4 Certificate in Sports massage therapy.

Career Paths: Sports massage therapist, sports & leisure industry, Heath Clubs/Spas, employed / freelance.

1 day a week for 6 weeks course (9.30-4.30) + 1 assessment day
