Manicure & Pedicure

Qualification: Level 2 Award in Nail Treatments (QCF)

The level 2 Award in Nail Treatments (QCF) is a specialist qualification.

You will gain all the knowledge and skills required to improve and maintain nail & skin condition on the hands and feet, providing professional Manicure and Pedicure treatments. You will also learn different nail art techniques.

Course content:

  • Health & Safety in the salon
  • Client Care & Communication
  • Contra-indications / Contra-actions / Homecare / Aftercare
  • Level 2 Anatomy & Physiology (relevant to studies)
  • Consultation / Treatment Planning / nail & skin analysis / Aftercare / Homecare
  • Shaping the nails / Cuticle work / Exfoliation / Massage of the lower arm & hand / Massage of the lower leg & foot Treatments including: hand/foot masks, Paraffin wax, warm oil, heated booties/mitts Nail finishes including the use of Light colour, Dark colour and French
  • Nail Art
  • Case Studies / Tasks / Written paper for each unit / Portfolio / Assessments

Further Training/Progression: Gel nails, Nail extensions, Nail art, Facials, Threading, Waxing, Make-up, Eye Treatments, Spray tanning, build up a full beauty therapy qualification (build up qualifications to gain a level 2 in beauty therapy)

Career Paths: Nail technician, work in Beauty salons/Spas, Freelance/Mobile therapist, a specialist in your chosen area or expertise, become a fully qualified beauty therapist
